In the last four weeks, I have traveled extensively visiting customers, shared many meals at The Cox Farm with customers and talked on the phone with customers. Not to be outdone, over the same time, I have traveled with our chemical supplier (Arch) and visited with over 80 vendors as they arrived in late February to enjoy the Cox Vendor Appreciation Day as well as the Cox BBQ.

Finally, not to omit the most important piece of the puzzle, I did all this in concert with fellow Cox team members. First, let me thank the many Cox team members that made many of the events possible and those that I accompanied on the various trips visiting the key members of our entire distribution chain. Every day, you make it exciting to wake up and a pleasure to get the job done. I cannot think of another job I would rather have than working with you to strengthen our organization and make it sustainable for future generations. I look forward to many more opportunities as we continue the great start we have enjoyed in 2010. Thanks to our outstanding Cox team members for your efforts in 2009 and thus far in 2010!

As for our many vendor partners, we would not be recognized as an  industry leader today were it not for their equal commitment to quality and excellence. When Cox first began hosting an annual vendor appreciation BBQ in the late 1950’s, it was not common to bring suppliers together and say “Thank You.” However, Cox has done so for over 50 years. In continuing this tradition, on February 27th, we gathered our core lumber and pole suppliers for an afternoon of information exchange and entertainment. In today’s world, vendors are often called to similar events and summarily asked for price decreases, extended terms and the like. Our invitation was not one of subversion, but rather one of openness. Not only did we thank our vendors with a small token of our
appreciation, a healthy lunch, a big dinner and an afternoon of skeet shooting, more importantly; we supplied them with key information on how they could grow their business with us in 2010. We do not trudge on our suppliers like disposable assets, but
rather we embrace them and celebrate their success in unison with ours. Thanks to our outstanding vendors in 2009!
